Needlepoint has been here since the 16th and 17th centuries. Initial needlepoint pieces frequently were blessings for homes and people entering it.  Some of these pieces come with numbers and letters. This type of design these days is known as a sampler. Young girls may learn needlepoint to show off their sewing skill and their literacy. Sometimes, needlepoint is also addressed as tapestry. While they do look similar, they are basically different in the way they are made. A tapestry is made from a loom. Needlepoint is stitched by hand. The regular needlepoint pillows may take three to fifteen days to complete. Needlepoint designs have changed from what it used to be initially. Latest stitches are continually added as the craft grows in popularity. Some stitches are bigger and are meant to fill in large areas of the cloth.
